Greensboro College Pride

Wendy Shope Gaines was a two sport athlete, playing volleyball and women's basketball. Gaines was a volleyball First Team All-Conference selection and All-Tournament Team selection in 1983. In 1984 she was again named First Team All-Conference. She continued her dominance her final two seasons, earning First Team honors twice more while being named to the All-Tournament team in 1986. 

Gaines still ranks top-10 in program history in hit percentage, service aces, blocks, and blocks/set, and matches played. She still holds the program record for blocks/set.
