Tim Guter played for the men's soccer team from 1984-1987. Guter had an outstanding playing career as a goalkeeper at Greensboro, including being named 2nd team all-conference in 1986, and still holds the men’s soccer career record for saves with 241 and saves per game with 6.6. Guter also ranks tied for 5th all-time in saves percentage at 79% and 5th in career shutouts with 10. Following his college playing career, Tim became an assistant coach at GC under Doug Hamilton in 1988. As an assistant coach Hamilton, Guter was a part of the 1989 men’s soccer team that finished runner-up in the Dixie Conference and made it all the way to the NCAA National Championship game.
