The USA South Conference released their preseason poll for women's soccer on Thursday, and the Greensboro College Women's Soccer team was picked to finish fourth place.
Greensboro comes off a 2024 season that saw them reach the USA South Conference Tournament Semifinals, falling to Methodist 2-0. The team won 11 games including a 7-2 conference record.Â
The Pride did lose a key piece, as 2024 USA South Player of the Year,
Amery Skinner, graduated and is now an assistant coach on
Mike Johnston's staff. The team brings in many fresh faces for 2025 as they look to build off their strong 2024.
Head Coach
Mike Johnston enters his fourth season leading the program along with assistants
Jake Papier,
Skylar Mathis, and Skinner. The team also has multiple key returning players from a season ago, including First Team All-Conference selection
Shae Brennan and fellow sophomore
Abby Lush. Senior defender
Allison Mann also returns as well as midfielder's
Grace Garraghty and
Claire Friedlander.
Greensboro begins the season at home against ODAC opponent Eastern Mennonite on August 29th, while cross-town rival Guilford comes to Pride Field on September 17th. The USA South Conference slate begins on September 23rd when USA South regular season defending champions Brevard travels to Greensboro.
