Danville, VA - It was the freshman duo of
Kendall Kamm and
Cailey Petrauskas that led Greensboro Women's Soccer (2-0-1) to a 4-1 road win on Saturday night over Averett (1-1-1).
The scoring started early as Petrauskas punched one in the bottom right corner of the net off a pass from
Alex Dawson to put Greensboro ahead 1-0. Later in the half, Kamm also scored on an assist from Dawson, and the Pride took an early 2-0 lead just 21 minutes into the game.
In the 61st minute, Petrauskas scored again to extend the lead to 3-0. Greensboro would cruise from there, getting one more goal from Kamm in the 71st minute. The Cougars scored their lone goal just a few seconds after Kamm's goal to bring the score to 4-1.
Greensboro dominated in shots taken, 27-6. Freshman keeper
Shyann Hansen started and played the first 45 minutes, allowing no goals and earning 2 saves.
Carlisle Dozier also had 2 saves in the second half.
The Pride will come back home for their next match against Johnson & Wales (NC) on September 10th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
