Greensboro, NC - The wins keep coming for Greensboro Women's Soccer (3-0-1) as they defeated Johnson & Wales (2-2-0) 1-0 at Pride Field Wednesday night.
A goal by
Trinity Robinson was the difference maker, as the Burlington, NC native scored in the 34th minute after coming in off the bench. It was the first for Robinson in her Greensboro career.Â
Greensboro dominated in shots taken, as they had 14 shots with 11 on goal. Wildcats goalkeeper Zoe Balmer was terrific, making multiple saves to keep Greensboro from pulling away in this one. Balmer had 10 saves in total on the night.
Freshman keeper
Shyann Hansen had a great game in net herself, coming up with 4 saves. Greensboro also had 10 corner kicks on the night.
Camryn Marcondes led the team in shots taken with 5.
After the game, coach
Mike Johnston said, "we've talked all year about the depth of this group. The second group came in and was fantastic....I think Trinity and Abby (Lush) with their pace in central midfield in that first half is clearly what changed the game for us...we found a way and our depth really showed tonight."
Greensboro will play again on Friday when they host Roanoke College at Pride Field for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
