Greensboro, NC - This week's Greensboro College Athletes of the Week are Payton Shiflet from volleyball and Alvaro Hermosa from men's soccer. This week marks the fourth time Shiflet has received the designation, and the second time for Hermosa.

Volleyball won all four matches in a busy week, running their winning streak up to 13 matches. Over the course of the week, Shiflet recorded 73 kills (an average of 18.25) per match, with a high of 24 at Methodist on October 16th. She also compiled 33 digs, four blocks, and three aces. Against Methodist, Shiflet caught fire and was responsible for four of the Pride's final six points to seal the victory. She ranks fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.322), first in kills (310), and first in points (343).

Volleyball hosts Brevard on Wednesday before traveling to Mary Baldwin on Friday.

Hermosa had a strong showing for men's soccer last week, surrendering just one goal in 180 minutes over two games. At Southern Virginia last Wednesday, he saved five out of six shots in a 3-1 victory. Then in Saturday's competition against Methodist, he recorded his third clean sheet of the season, saving all five Monarchs' shots on goal in a 0-0 draw. Hermosa's 1.178 goals allowed average ranks second in the USA South, while his save percentage of .791 is tops.

Men's soccer is back in action Saturday when they host N.C. Wesleyan.
