GREENSBORO, NC- The first Athletes of the Week for the 2026-27 school year are
Abby Lush from women's soccer and
Cameron Turner of the football team.
Lush played a huge part in the first win for the women's soccer team this season. In a 6-0 drubbing of Warren Wilson, Lush fired three shots on goal, each of them finding the back of the net. It was Lush's first career hat trick and the first for a women's soccer player at Greensboro College since Amery Skinner in the first round of the 2024 USA South Tournament. The offensive explosion gives her nine career goals and has her well on her way to matching or surpassing her career high of five goals in a season, set last year.
Women's soccer remains at home on Wednesday to take on ODAC opponent Averett.
Football's 48 points against Guilford marked a program record for scoring in the Soup Bowl. Turner accounted for three passing touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown for good measure. The sophomore quarterback completed 13 of 22 passing for 244 yards, in addition to 77 yards on the ground. His performance gives him 10 career passing touchdowns in just eight games, as well as surpassing 400 career rushing yards a year after setting the single-season QB mark at Greensboro with 331 yards on the ground.
Football has their first road matchup of the season on Saturday when they travel to Roanoke.
