The Greensboro College women's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season at Regent University. Behind five double-digit scorers, the Pride cruised to a 100-45 victory.
Greensboro (1-0) outscored Regent (0-2) 80-29 over the final three periods. The 100 points were the most scored for the Pride since 2018 (Mary Baldwin, January 13).Â
Aliyah Whiteside and
Quadijah Moore led GC with 18 points.
Ta'Keria Legette and
Karli Mason each had 13 points as
Lauren Livingston tallied 11. Overall, 11-different members of the Pride scored at least two points.
In the first period, the Royals jumped out to an early lead 9-3. Greensboro responded by outscoring Regent 11-2 to grasp a 14-11 lead with 1:46 to go in the period. The Royals tried to regain the lead but GC held true and led by four (20-16) at the end of the first.
In the second period, the Royals evened the score twice (23 and 25) but the Pride scored 21-straight to take a 46-25 at the half.
Kali Murrell led all scorers with 28 points. GC had an efficient night on offense as it shot 56.7-percent from the field and scored 44 points in the paint, 15 off turnovers and 19 second chance points. Greensboro outrebounded the hosts 45-26.
Greensboro travels to Ferrum College on Thursday, November 11 to face the Panthers. Start time is set for 5:00 p.m.
