MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Scotty McGuire hit a two-run homerun in the sixth inning as the Greensboro College baseball team defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University Saturday 11-3.
Greensboro jumped on top in the first inning before extending their lead to 7-0 with three runs in the second and fourth innings.
Chance Bryant tallied a two RBI single through the right side in the second inning before
Devin Brackin highlighted the fourth inning with a two RBI single of his own.
With the Pride holding on to the seven-run advantage, Pfeiffer got on the board with one run in the fifth inning before McGuire hit his homerun to make the score 9-1.
In the seventh inning, both teams scored two runs, but it was the Pride who was able to maintain the large lead and went on to secure the eight-run victory.
Michael Garvey Jr. had two hits on the day while six other players had one hit each.
Jared Cenal struck out six batters over 6.1 innings pitched to pick up the win, while
Chenzo Scanio pitched the final 2.2 innings.
