Brayden King & Jared Rodriguez Record Three RBIs Each In 11-8 Victory Over William Peace

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Brayden King and Jared Rodriguez both tallied three RBIs as the Greensboro College baseball team defeated the Pacers of William Peace University Saturday 11-8.

William Peace held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second inning before Jared Rodriguez tallied a two RBI infield single to the shortstop.

After Jared Cenal shut down the Pacers in the top of the third, Greensboro began to break open the game with a six-run bottom half to take an 8-3 lead. Chance Bryant got the first RBI of the inning on a double to right-center field before Jamar Ellis drew a bases loaded walk three batters later.

Following the walk, King was hit by a pitch to make the score 5-3 before Rodriguez tallied his third RBI in as many innings. Later in the inning, Michael Garvey Jr. hit a two RBI single through the left side of the infield.

Once Greensboro established the five-run lead, William Peace outscored the Pride 5-3 over the final five innings, but Chenzo Scanio shut the door in the ninth to secure the win and the series victory.

The Pride pounded out 16 hits in the game as Jacob Rodriguez finished with a team-leading four hits, while Garvey Jr. added three hits and two RBIs. Cenal was credited with the win after striking out four batters over five innings, while Scanio struck out five over the final four to earn his first save.

The Pride will return to Ted Leonard Park Sunday to complete the three-game USA South Athletic Conference series with the Pacers. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
