FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to the Monarchs of Methodist University Saturday, 8-5.
Methodist took a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning before Greensboro was able to score four runs to gain a one-run lead of their own.
Greensboro recorded their first run of the game on RBI single by
Tim Osborne before
Blake Carroll scored Osborne from first base on a double to left-center field. Following the Carroll double, the Pride tallied their final two runs of the inning on a
Scotty McGuire single.
The score then remained the same until Methodist scored four runs in the seventh and one in the eight to send Greensboro into their final at bat trailing 8-4.
The Pride did not go away easily as Osborne tallied another RBI single, but the Pride would not get any closer than three runs.
Brayden King and Osborne had two hits each to lead the Pride.
Tyler Garam pitched the first 6 2/3 innings and was credited with the loss.
Matthew Yates and
Christian Kercado combined to pitch the final 1 1/3 innings.
