GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College at First National Bank Field Tuesday, 13-3.
With the Marlins leading 5-0 heading into the bottom half of the third inning, Greensboro third baseman
Tyler Price launched a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall, plating
Blake Carroll and
Brady Dignan, to pull the Pride to within two runs.
However, Greensboro was not able to gain any more ground as the Marlins plated eight more runs over the final six innings to secure the victory.
"You would think that by getting to play in a beautiful stadium like First National Bank Field, you would be focused, have energy and play with a competitive spirit," Head Coach
Frank Maldonado said. "Unfortunately that did not happen today and the scoreboard reflected that."
Price finished with a team-high two hits, while
Tyler Fuller,
Blake Glass,
Casey Moore, Dignan and Carroll had one hit each.
Josh Evans was credited with the loss after giving up five runs over the first three innings.
Willis Booth,
Matthew Yates,
Will Hicks and
Piero Amador combined to pitch the final six innings.
The Pride baseball team will return to action Friday when they travel to Methodist University to open a three-game conference series with a doubleheader. For more information on Greensboro College baseball, continue to follow
