GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College Baseball (14-11, 5-3) overcame an early deficit and made timely plays late to earn a 7–6 USA South Conference victory over William Peace University (9-15, 3-5) on Saturday evening at Ted Leonard Park.
Despite falling behind 3–0 in the top of the first inning, the Pride responded quickly to flip the momentum. Greensboro got on the board in the bottom of the first when Alex Vazquez drove in Jacob Severson with an RBI single to left field.
The Pride offense continued to battle, as in the fourth inning, Evan Sykes delivered a clutch hit, lining a two-run single to left to plate Destin Matthews and Shane Garrett.
After the Pacers scored in the sixth, Greensboro answered once again. Sykes lifted a sacrifice fly to left to score Shane Garrett before Trevor Testerman followed with an RBI single to tie the game 6-6.
Dawson Shelton brought home Christian Glaze with a sacrifice fly to right field in the seventh, giving the Pride their first lead, 7-6. From there, Ralls, Stephen Dunlow, and Nolan Holley slammed the door shut to secure the win.
Isaiah Ralls set the tone on the mound for Greensboro, working eight strong innings to earn the win. The freshman scattered 10 hits and limited the damage to just two earned runs while navigating pressure on the bases.
