Personal: Dawson is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and attended Oak Grove High School. Dawson transferred from Wingate University for the 2026 season. At Oak Grove, Dawson was a four year varsity letterman and was an All-Conference player three times. He was named Conference Player of the Year his senior season. He was also a Gold Glove recipient from Hot Stove.
