Greensboro, NC-
Jordyn Tong (softball) and
Braeden Mitchell (men's lacrosse) are this week's Greensboro College Athletes of the Week as the calendar shifts to March.
Tong provided a spark for the Pride offense as they swept Sweet Briar last week in a doubleheader. In game one, Tong delivered a pair of RBI singles, and added another in the second game. All told, Tong went 3-5 with 3 RBI and added a walk. On the season, Tong is hitting .313 with a home run and 4 RBI, while getting on base at a .500 clip.
Softball travels to Raleigh this weekend for the Triangle classic, a grueling trio of doubleheaders in three days.
Mitchell, a transfer junior from Wilmington University (Delaware), has been a wall for the Pride in net this spring. Despite Greensboro splitting their games last week (losing to Bridgewater before defeating Marymount), Mitchell made 39 saves between the two games, good for a .684 save percentage. He has improved his record to 4-1, saving 68% percent of shots faced and allowing only 7.05 goals per game.
Men's lacrosse takes on McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland on Saturday.
HONORABLE MENTION:
Justin Barry (men's lacrosse), Isaiah Faudoa (baseball),
Raina Hampel (softball).
