Hailie Misplay (women's wrestling),
Omori Lee (men's wrestling) and
DJ Jackson (men's basketball) have been named this week's Greensboro College Athletes of the Week.
Misplay was one of two individual wins for women's wrestling in a team loss against Randolph. Misplay defeated Jenna Moening by a 12-0 tech fall in 1:54. With the win, Misplay improves to 14-5 on the year, trailing only
Kyra Tomlinson on the team in wins this season.
Women's wrestling concludes their season on February 7th at the Lindsey Wilson Women's Open.
Lee had a big week for men's wrestling, scoring wins against Randolph (18-5 Major Decision over Corey Webster) and was instrumental in Greensboro's first win of the year against Southern Virginia on Senior Day (taking down Harrison Hoopes in a 16-5 major decision). He followed it up with his biggest win of the week, getting engaged to
Jasmine Edwards of the women's wrestling team. Lee leads the Pride with a 13-7 record this season.
Men's Wrestling takes on Roanoke College at home on Thursday.
Jackson was at the center of both of men's hoops' wins last week. The junior guard scored 24 points in a win against Mary Baldwin, and followed it up with a career-best 32 points (plus 9 rebounds) as Greensboro College took down Methodist. Jackson has scored double-figures in all 14 games this season and 15 games dating back to last year. He leads the USA South with 18.9 points per game.
Men's basketball is slated for a home game against Brevard and a road matchup at William Peace this week.
