The Greensboro College Baseball team will host the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament beginning on Thursday afternoon at McCrary Park.

The Pride come in as the #2 seed in the tournament, and will host Brevard and Pfeiffer on their side of the bracket. On Thursday, Brevard will play Pfeiffer, and Greensboro will play the loser of that game on Thursday evening at 5:00 pm.

Greensboro finished the regular season 15-5-1 in conference play and 25-14-1 overall. The Pride come in off a sweep of NC Wesleyan last weekend to finish the regular season. On Wednesday, Greensboro had five players named to the All-Conference Team and one to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Greensboro has the best offense in the league, hitting a robust .336 on the season, which led the USA South. They also led the conference in runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, and home runs. On the pitching side, freshman Zack Bird has established himself as the ace of the rotation, winning the last two of three USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Week awards.

Brevard comes in as the #3 seed in the tournament, and they will be the home team in game one against Pfeiffer. In the regular season, Greensboro went 1-1-1 against Brevard while taking two of three games against Pfeiffer.

Brevard had the third best batting average in the conference at .302, while Pfeiffer scored the third most runs with 284. All three teams have had their ups and downs on the pitching side, but the Pride do have the best ERA of the three teams who will be playing on Greensboro's side of the bracket.

Greensboro head coach Chris Fenisey says ahead of the first round of the tournament, "I'm excited to have a front row seat to watch our guys go out and compete this weekend and grateful to the Asheboro Zookeepers for allowing us to bring a great event out to McCrary Park."

Methodist will host the other side of the bracket in Fayetteville, NC, and they will host NC Wesleyan and Southern Virginia beginning on Thursday.
