Destiny Vaughans and
Kyra Tomlinson competed in day one of the NCWWC National Championships on Friday.
Vaughans, wrestling in the 207lb class, went 3-1 on the day and advances to day two on Saturday. Vaughans won her first match by Tech Fall over Grace Murphy of Otterbein. She would lose in her next match by tech fall, but then win her next two rounds, one by Decision and one by Fall.Â
Tomlinson's outstanding season comes to an end after going 2-2 on Friday in the 138lb class. Tomlinson entered the day ranked 19th in the country according to The Open Mat rankings. She would win her first round match by Tech Fall before losing to Tristan Kelly of McKendree in round two. She then won another match by Tech Fall before losing to Aniyah Kelly on a tiebreaker.
Vaughans will wrestle Alyssa Favara of Lock Haven on Saturday in the consolation bracket.
