Greensboro, NC- The USA South Athletic Conference announced postseason awards for men's basketball, with Greensboro's
Isaiah Pruett being named First Team All-Conference and fellow senior
Grant Thompson named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Pruett was a dominant offensive force all season, averaging 21.0 points per game (including five games of over 30 points and a season-high of 39). Pruett reached double figures in points in all but one game all season. Some of his season highlights included the aforementioned 39 point performance against N.C. Wesleyan on 1/11, a game-winning overtime layup against Warren Wilson on 12/8, and in the rematch against the Battling Bishops on 2/8, set a Greensboro record for most free throws made without a miss (14).Â
Pruett's 21.0 PPG led the USA South, and he also paced the conference in field goals made (176), attempted (424), free throws made (142) and attempted (166), assists (118), assists per game (4.5), and his 38.8 minutes per game were almost three minutes more than his closest competitor.
Thompson enjoyed a strong senior campaign as well. Although limited to 22 games due to injury, Thompson still managed to record 10.1 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game (leading the Pride). Six times during the year, Thompson recorded a double-double, second most in the USA South. He notched double-digits in rebounds seven times, while recording 10+ points on 14 occasions (including five straight games to end the season). He recorded a season-high 17 points against Brevard on 2/18 and his season-best of 11 rebounds was achieved twice.
Despite missing time due to injury, Thompson's 53 offensive boards ranked 5th in the conference, while he placed 6th in total rebounds (161) and 4th in rebounds per game (7.3). His 18 blocked shots also ranked 4th.
