Roberts' Last Second Shot Gives Men's Basketball Win Over Methodist on Senior Day

Greensboro, NC - It was a wild scene inside Hanes Gymnasium on Saturday as Greensboro College Men's Basketball (10-15, 6-8) earned a last second win over Methodist (10-14, 6-8) 61-60 to lock up the #4 seed in the USA South Conference Tournament.

Greensboro got out to an early lead before the Monarchs' defense shut down the Pride offense midway through the first half. The teams would trade buckets throughout the rest of the half and were tied 33-33 at halftime.

Greensboro would get out to an 8 point lead with 8:38 to play. Methodist went on a run themselves, and took the lead 57-56 with 4:02 to go. With 1:05 to play, Methodist took a 60-59 lead with a free throw. After a Methodist turnover with 25 seconds left, Greensboro had one last chance to win it.

The Pride would miss three different shots in the last 10 seconds, but got rebounds on all of them as Ryan Roberts tipped in an offensive rebound with 0.9 seconds remaining to put Greensboro ahead. The Monarchs' half court heave at the buzzer fell short and Greensboro edged out a 61-60 win.

DJ Jackson scored a team high 18 points. Jalen Thorns scored 12 points while Roberts had 11 rebounds. With the win, Greensboro will host Methodist next Tuesday in the first round of the conference tournament.
