Greensboro, NC- The 2025-26 USA South men's basketball Preseason Poll picks Greensboro College to finish in sixth this season.
Following a season in which Greensboro was led by three different head coaches, the Pride open the season with a little bit of stability as last year's final interim coach (and Greensboro College alum)
Michael McDuffie begins his first full season as head coach.
Greensboro will have to replace two of their biggest offensive threats from last season, big man
Grant Thompson and one of their best scorers of all-time,
Isaiah Pruett. The Pride finished 6-20 last year and 5-9 in conference, but went on a spirited run under McDuffie to close out the regular season, making the tournament on the final day and nearly upsetting Southern Virginia on the road in the first round of the USA South tournament.
DJ Jackson (11.4 PPG) is the team's leading returning scorer, while senior
Griffin Powell set a career-high in points per game (7.8) while looking to return to his three-point shooting numbers of his 2023-24 level (his 28.5% mark from long range last season was down from 39.7% the year before). Big men
Zephaniah Jones and late-season sensation
Jeremiah Howard return and look to provide a physical presence in the paint this year. Also returning are veterans
Ryan Roberts,
Sam Swinson,
Aidan Eller, and
Peyton Brown.
Among the newcomers, the Pride roster features six transfers and seven freshmen.
The Pride open their season at home Saturday against Heidelberg College. Other schedule highlights include renewing their crosstown rivalry with Guilford at the First Horizon Coliseum, a pair of tournaments in December (the Roger Taylor invitational in Rocky Mount and the Lynchburg Classic in Lynchburg, VA), a December exhibition at D-I Elon, and the beginning of USA South Play January 6th against William Peace.
