GREENSBORO, NC- Allysia Alfred and
Omega Pinnix from Women's Swimming, as well as
Jacob Barlow of Men's Wrestling have been tabbed as this week's Greensboro Pride Athletes of the Week.
It was a strong showing this past Saturday for Alfred and Pinnix as Greensboro women's swimming took on Hollins and Guilford in the Reynolds Center, as they both claimed victories in a pair of individual events, as well as on two relays.Â
Alfred's wins came in the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard IM, while Pinnix outdistanced the competition in the 100-yard backstroke (by 15 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (by 12 seconds). Together they, along with Gabby Hunker and
Kilee Kemp, claimed victories in the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay.Â
Men's and women's swimming will be back in action at the Reynolds Center next Saturday at noon before competing in the ODAC Championships on February 12th.
On the wrestling mat, Barlow improved his record to 11-4 this year in a win against Averett's Jasiri Dingle by tech fall, 19-1. Although the team would fall to Averett, Barlow's success now sees him ranked 3rd in Region IV, as well as 18th nationally in the NCAA D-IIIÂ heavyweight division, according to wrestlestat.com.
The ODAC slate continues for men's wrestling this Thursday, as the Pride host Randolph at 7PM.
