Buena Vista, VA - Greensboro women's wrestling competed in the Southern Virginia Invitational on Saturday, and #18 nationally ranked Kyra Tomlinson placed first in the 138lb weight class.

In round one, Tomlinson defeated Bluefield's Saleh Ibtasam by Tech Fall (13-0). In the second round, she also won via Tech Fall, this time over Satori Swanson (12-2).

In the third and final round, Tomlinson defeated Gracie Blake by Tech Fall (10-0) to finish her dominating day on the mat. Tomlinson came into the tournament ranked #18 in all of NCAA in the 138lb weight class according to The Open Mat rankings.

Destiny Vaughans also took first place in the 207lb class. Vaughans won her first round match against Mikayla Ozueh from Randolph by Fall, and then won round two by Fall against Kiley McClain from Bluefield. 

Genesis Chinchilla had a solid outing, winning three of her matches at the 145lb weight class. She won by Fall in the first round over SVU's Eve Beckstead, and then lost in the semifinal round. In the consolation semifinals, Chinchilla won by Fall once again against Avery Stewart of Liberty University. In the third place match, Chinchilla defeated Beckstead again by Fall.

Haylie Carbajal also got a win in the 160lb class against Jenna Moening by Fall. For all of the Greensboro results from the tournament, click here.

Greensboro will wrestle inside Reynolds Gym for the last time this season on Janaury 23rd against Randolph College. Match time is set for 5:30 pm.
