The Pride Baseball team led 11-7 heading into the 7th inning against Berry College on Sunday (March 6), but would ultimately fall 12-11 in the 9th. The Vikings chipped away at the Pride lead scoring twice in the bottom of the 9th to defeat Greensboro, 12-11, in the finale of the Fifth Annual Berry Invitational.
Greensboro built its lead behind
Devin Summers' 2 RBI- Homerun in the 3rd inning put the Pride up 2-1, as well as a
Josh Pittman RBI- single in the 4th inning made the score 5-3 Greensboro. Catcher
Aaron Smith hit a liner up the middle in the 7th inning to bring in another run to increase the Pride's lead to 10-7. He went 2-5 with 3 RBI for a breakout performance at the plate.
Berry kept pace by getting timely hits in the crucial last innings.  The Vikings pounded out 20 hits in the contest, with 11 different players getting hits, including the walk-off hit in the 9th inning to bring in the winning run.
Greensboro falls to 3-4 on the season, and will return to the diamond tomorrow (March 8) at 4pm at Ted Leonard Park against Guilford College.
