Greensboro College Pride

2022: Went 1-1 in four appearances in relief, where he threw 7.0 innings with three strikeouts.  Pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts against Brevard on February 26th.

2021: Appeared in seven contests out of the bullpen where he logged nine and one-third innings with a 1.93 ERA. Helms posted a 3-0 record while giving up only two earned runs. He threw one and one-third innings of scoreless relief, earning a win in the second game of the 3/24 Brevard doubleheader. Threw three-innings of scoreless, two-hit relief with one strikeout and walk to earn the win in the 5/2 victory at Averett.

2020: Helms was a member Guilford Technical Community College's team.

PREP: Played baseball and basketball at North Stokes High School where he earned All-Conference honors three times in baseball with one All-State honor in the sport. Helms earned All-Conference honorable mention in basketball one time and holds the school's all-time strikeouts record. Helms was the President of the senior class, prom king, and a member of the school's honor roll.

PERSONAL: Layton is the son of Tim and Shannon with one brother (Austin).
