Greensboro's men's basketball team came out hot on Tuesday night, February 15th against Southern Virginia. The Pride jumped out to a 6-0 lead on back to back 3-point baskets by Seniors
Keyshawn Dorsey and
Kevon Meertins. Greensboro would continue to hit from the outside in surging ahead 16-7 after another 3-pointer by
Ty Hill at the 9:47 mark of the first half. Greensboro only committed five first half turnovers, and would cruise into halftime up 43-27.
The second half started much like the first as Greensboro was up by 18 after a layup by
Keyshawn Dorsey with just over 14 minutes left. But the Knights would not go away quietly, and they clawed all the way back in the game thanks to Isaiah and Conner Marchant. The brothers combined for 51 points, and would help SVU bring the game to a 77-77 tie with 1:21 left in the game. The Knights' full-court press gave Greensboro fits throughout the second half, leading to 12 second half turnovers.
The Pride looked to
Ty Hill on their final offensive possession, and he found the bottom of the basket for the game winner with :04 seconds left.
Keyshawn Dorsey then put the game on ice by adding two free throws with under a second remaining.. The 81-77 win moves the Pride to 10-14 on the season, and they conclude the regular season at Hanes Gym on Saturday at 2 PM as they host NC Wesleyan for Senior Day.
