Kristian Williams got the start for the Pride on Saturday afternoon (Feb 19). It was a day to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions on and off the court for each departing senior. Meertins led the way for Greensboro with 20 points, including 7-17 from the field. He hit back-to-back 3-pointers to bring the Pride back to within 14 at 9:25 left in the game, but it was not enough, as NC Wesleyan surged to a 91-72 win on Senior Day.
Greensboro trailed 44-31 at the half, due to scoring of Isaiah Lewis (25 points), Damon McDowell (22), and a season-high 20 points from Khalid Chavis for the Bishops. NC Wesleyan continued its barrage in the second half, leading by as many as 23 with in the closing minutes.
Meertins was joined in double figures by
Christian Thompson's 12 points to go along with six rebounds.
The loss drops the Pride to 10-15 for the season.
