GREENSBORO, NC. Sophomore Forward
Quadijah Moore was a force to be reckoned with on Tuesday night (January 18
th) in Hanes Gym against conference rival William Peace. With the 87-63 win, the Pride improved to 14-1 on the season, following a strong effort on both ends from Moore. She led both teams in points (22) and rebounds (17).
Greensboro was able to rally from an early 12-10 first quarter deficit by answering with a 7-0 run. Junior Guard
Aliyah Whiteside hit a key three pointer with 2:24 remaining in the first quarter to put the Pride out in front 20-13. Greensboro stayed in control as Freshman
Lauren Livingston's steady Point Guard play guided the Pride to a 48-25 halftime lead, while adding 9 points and 7 assists.
William Peace came out strong in the 2
nd half, behind 15 points from Kiera Williams and 18 from Cierra Baker. The Pacers tried to close the gap, but for each make, the Pride had an answer. Greensboro was able to force 25 turnovers and put the game out of reach with the precision shooting from Junior Guard
Karli Mason. Mason pitched in 16 points, hitting 4 for 9 from three point range.
The Pride used a swarming defense and unselfishness on the offensive end to overwhelm the Pacers. As a team, the Pride had 17 assists on their 36 made field goals. Other strong performers for Greensboro were
Audrey Jennings and
Aliyah Whiteside, with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
