Women's Volleyball Keeps Winning Streak Alive

The Greensboro College volleyball team won its fifth and sixth-consecutive matches . The Pride defeated Hollins University, 3-0 before sweeping the host Roanoke Maroons, 3-0.

Greensboro 3, Hollins 0

Greensboro opened the set by winning six of the first seven points with aces from Mckenzie Norris and Hailey Stout.

Hollins pulled within three (8-5) before the Pride won six-straight as Carly Uhlir, Natalie Rosinski and Stout collected kills.

HU was unable to close the deficit but GC held strong as Norris had back-to-back kills to win the set, 25-14.

In the second, Hollins began with a 4-1 lead. The Pride followed as they won six of the next seven with two kills from Krista Brantley.

Greensboro slowly continued to expand its lead as it pieced together multiple small runs. GC grew its lead to eight (23-15) and went on to win the set by seven. (25-18).

The third began with both squads exchanging the lead until Greensboro won five-straight to lead 11-6.

HU cut the difference down to four (16-12) but the Pride shut down the set as they won nine of the final 10 points to win the set, 25-13.

Sarah Oakes led the offense with 6 kills, three aces while also blocking two attacks. Norris finished the match with three kills, 18 assists and three aces.

Greensboro 3, Roanoke 0

In the final match of the weekend for Greensboro, the Pride defeated the Maroons by scores of 30-28, 25-20 and 25-17.

Uhlir led with a match-highs in kills (14) and digs (17). Stout added 11 kills while Norris finished the match with 37 assists.

Both Uhlir and Oakes were named to the Maroon Classic All-Tournament Team. Other representatives were Linsey Bailey (Roanoke), Hannah Hewitt (Methodist), Sydney Barnwell (NC Wesleyan) and Logan Warren (Randolph).

Greensboro (6-2) opens the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday, September 14 against Elizabeth City State University. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
