GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team had a strong second half, but could not overcome a troublesome first half and fell to the Monarchs of Methodist University Tuesday 84-75.
Greensboro went into the break trailing by 26, but they started the first six minutes of the second half to pull to within 53-38.
Eric Peaks Jr., who finished with a team-high 23 points, fueled the run with eight points while three other players combined for nine points.
Following the run, Methodist extended their lead back out to 18 with 11:35 on the clock before Greensboro came storming back to within five after a 23-10 run that lasted 8:12. This time it was
Matthew Brown who led the way during the run with six points. Peaks Jr. and
Keyford Langley contributed five points each.
Despite having momentum on their side, the Pride could not get any closer as Methodist went a perfect nine-for-nine down the stretch from the free-throw line to secure the nine-point victory.
Langley finished with game with 14 points and a game-high five assists, while
Greyson Collins chipped in 12 points. Peaks Jr. and Brown both had six rebounds.
