Biography

2022-2023: Played in 25 games. Averaged 12.8 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, totaled 45 assists, 31 steals, and 32 blocks. Tied career high in points with 26 against Mary Baldwin on January 24th.

2021-22: Appeared in 20 games, starting 16, averaging 10.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.  Posted a career high 26 points and nine rebounds against William Peace on November 30th, and 11 points and 12 rebounds against Pfeiffer on February 12th.

2020-21: Started all 18 games played where he averaged 13.2 points per game, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and one block. Brown posted a .433 field goal percentage while shooting .740 from the foul line. Brown posted double-figure scoring efforts in 15 of 18 games, amassing 20 points in the January 24 game against N.C. Wesleyan. He tallied 21 points on ten-of-18 shooting in the February 5 matchup at Pfeiffer.

2019-2020: Appeared in 25 games and made 7 starts, averaging 7.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 43 blocks for the season. Brown posted 22 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks in the January 18 game against Piedmont. He amassed a career-high 24 points in the February 1 game at Covenant.
 
Prep: Brown was a member of the basketball team at University High School where he won the 9A District 4 Championship in 2018. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Matthew was also a member of the National Honors Society.
