GREENSBORO, N.C. – Parker Strader continued to dominate on the mound as the Greensboro College baseball team defeated the Pacers of William Peace University to open USA South Athletic Conference play Friday 7-3.
William Peace took a two-run lead in the top of the second inning before
Brayden King plated
Kendal Tucker in the bottom half with a single to center field.
The score then remained the same until the sixth inning when the Pacers struck for one run in the sixth, but Greensboro broke the game wide open with a five-run bottom half.
Kendal Tucker got the scoring started with s single to right field before
Jamar Ellis hit a two-run double to right field. Following the double,
Michael Garvey Jr. tallied the final RBI of the inning with a double of his own.
Holding on to the three-run lead in the seventh,
Braxton Rupp plated
Hunter Curtis, for the game's final run, with a single to left filed.
Eight different players had one hit each in the victory while Ellis posted a team-leading two RBIs. Strader, who improved to 3-0 on the season, finished the game with seven strikeouts.
Cameron Edmonds came on in relief of Strader in the eighth inning and allowed one hit, while recording one strikeout, in two innings pitched.
