LOOKOUT MTN., Ga. – Matthew Brown tallied 24 points as the Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to the Scots of Covenant College Saturday 72-62.
Greensboro scored the game's first basket on a layup by
Matthew Brown before Covenant went on a 9-0 run over the next six minutes to take a 9-2 lead. As the half progressed, the Scots extended their lead to 22-9 with 8:51 on the clock before the Pride began to catch their offensive stride.
Over the next seven minutes, the Pride was able to climb back within seven at 34-27, aided by a 6-0 run behind the play of
Eric Peaks Jr. and
Matthew Brown. Despite pulling within single digits, Greensboro went into halftime trailing 42-32.
Following the intermission, Greensboro was able to battle back to within one on three different occasions but ended up falling by the 10-point margin.
Greyson Collins finished with nine points, while
Keyford Langley finished with eight points and three assists.
