FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to the Monarchs of Methodist University Thursday 10-5.
Methodist held a 3-0 lead into the top half of the fifth inning before
Hunter Curtis hit as bases loaded double down the left field line to tie the game.
However, Methodist quickly regained a one-run lead in the bottom half of the inning before going on to take a 9-3 lead into the seventh inning.
The Pride was then able to strike for one run in the seventh on a
Tyler Price sacrifice fly before Methodist made the score 10-4 in the bottom half.
Greensboro tried to mount a comeback in the ninth but was only able to plate one run on a bases loaded walk by
Scotty McGuire and fell by the five-run margin.
Will Hicks was credited with the loss. Eight players for the Pride each had one hit on the day.
The Pride and the Monarchs will close out the three-game USA South series on Saturday at Ted Leonard Park.
