THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Greensboro College baseball team fell to California Lutheran Monday in their first game of their 2019 spring break trip.
Cal Lutheran scored one run in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead before Greensboro got on the board in the fifth.
Scotty McGuire reached base to start the inning on a Kingsmen error before reaching scoring position on a
Jacob Rodriguez infield single.
Two batters later, McGuire came across the plate on another error to make the score 3-1.
However, Greensboro was unable to get any closer despite threating late in the game as Cal Lutheran went on to take the three-run victory after scoring the game's final run in the sixth.
Rodriguez finished with a game-high three hits while
Blake Carroll and
Hunter Curtis each had one hit.
Clayton Slater was credited with the loss after giving up two runs over three innings.
Chenzo Scanio and
Cole Cooper pitched the final five innings in relief.
