GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team dropped a pair of games against the Falcons of Pfeiffer University Monday to close out a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series.
Pfeiffer took the opening game by a 9-7 score before winning Game 2 15-2.
Game One
Pfeiffer held a 4-0 through 2 ½ innings before Greensboro was able to strike for three runs in the bottom half of the third.
Tyler Price had a two RBI single up the middle before
Noah Walker recorded a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Price.
The Falcons then extended their lead in the fourth inning with a RBI single before
Blake Carroll scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to make the score 5-4.
After pulling back to within one run, Greensboro found themselves trailing 9-4 heading into the ninth after the Falcons struck for four runs in the seventh.
In the ninth,
Lincoln Hewett, Walker, and Carroll had RBI hits to pull Greensboro back to within two runs but could not get any closer.
Carroll,
Jacob Rodriguez,
Hunter Curtis, and Walker each had two hits for the Pride.
Game Two
After Pfeiffer took a 6-0 lead in the top half of the first inning, Greensboro was able to strike for their lone two runs of the game in the bottom half.
Curtis had a RBI groundout to score Carroll before Hewett hit a single up the middle to score Rodriguez.
Following the two-run bottom half, the Pride struggled to get anything going as the Falcons went on to secure the victory.
