GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team rolled past Southern Virginia University Thursday, 4-0.
Greensboro (6-3, 3-0 USA South) did not waste any time getting on the board.
Carlos Barragan gathered a throw-in from
Warren Washington and beat the Southern Virginia (2-7) keeper to the upper left corner of goal, giving the Pride a 1-0 lead.
Greensboro then added to its lead just two minutes before halftime as
Cole Watkins headed in a free-kick just out of the Knights keepers reach, extending the margin to two goals heading into the break.
The Pride then continued the pressure in the second half as
Sam Connors and Watkins each scored one goal to secure the four goal victory.
Gerardo Peraza picked up the assist on Connors goal.
The Pride held a strong lead in the shot category over the Knights, 18-3.
Jaime Payamps picked up his sixth win in net, collecting his second clean sheet.
"I'm happy with the boy's performance today," Head Coach
Tony Falvino said, "We were able to create a lot of good chances and we kept a good tempo. Our focus will now move to Methodist Saturday."
