GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team fell to Methodist University Saturday afternoon, 1-0.
The first half was fairly back and forth, with the Pride (6-4, 3-1 USA South) having the edge on shots over the Monarchs (5-3-1, 3-0 USA South), 4-3.
The Monarchs were able to break the deadlock in the 57
th minute, after a miscommunication between the Pride defense. That goal would be the decider in the match as Greensboro could not find the equalizer.
The Pride held an advantage on shots, 9-5.
Andrew Moebius lead the team in shots, with three.
Carlos Barragan and
Gerardo Peraza added two shots each.
Jaime Payamps (6-4) got the loss in goal, while making two saves. Johnathan Moore got the win for the Monarchs, making six saves.
"I thought we created a lot of chances today." Head Coach
Tony Falvino said, "We weren't clinical enough in front of goal and their goalie had a great game. They were able to take advantage on a lapse of concentration we had defensively."
"We will need to learn and build off this as we have a quick turnaround against North Carolina Wesleyan tomorrow."
The Pride will return to Pride Field at 2 p.m. Sunday when they face North Carolina Wesleyan. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
