Greensboro, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday against Averett University, 2-1.
The Cougars (3-1, 1-0 USA South) scored the game's first goal in the 19
th minute.
The Pride (4-1, 0-1 USA South) then evened the score in the 38
th minute of play when
Anna Rae Porcelli tucked away her chance in front of goal.
Following the intermission, the Pride had multiple chances but the Cougars scored the game's final goal in the 66
th minute.
Greensboro outshot the Cougars 29-6, while also holding an 8-1 corner kick advantage.
Gabrielle Edinger lead the Pride with 3 shots on goal, while Porcelli added 2 shots on goal.
"Our girls battled today" Head Coach
Gus Mota said. "We were able to get lots of opportunities but it was just one of those games where their goalie made a lot of saves and we just weren't able to finish."
