Season Synopsis
 
2017: The 2017 season saw many more records fall than the 2016 season as the Pride women broke four records that were set one season prior. Additionally, Mota’s squad finished the season with an astonishing, 16-3-0 record to break the program mark for most wins that had stood for ten years. Following the conclusion of the season Mercedes Fisher was selected to the Second-Team All-USA South East Division before being added to the Puerto Rican National Team for the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. Samantha Whipp was also recognized for her work on the field as she was also tabbed to the All-USA South East Division Second-Team.
 
2016: The youth movement continued for the Pride under second-year head coach Gus Mota as his strong recruiting brought in another strong class to Greensboro College. The Pride women finished the season with a 10-7-3 mark, while also recording the programs first tournament game victory since 2010, defeating Ferrum College on the road, 3-0. Following the conclusion of the regular season, Lauren Greeson was named to the USA South All-East Division Second-Team, along with Hannah Stiles. In addition to the Pride’s strong season mark, the Greensboro women also set program records for goal in a season (80) and assists in a season (58), while also ranking third in the nation in goals.
 
2015: In his first season at the helm of the Pride, Mota led the Pride women to an overall record of 10-8-1, including a 5-6-1 record in USA South Athletic Conference play. Following the season, Melanie Raton and Megan Cole earned USA South All-Conference recognition.
 
Prior to Greensboro College
Gus came to Greensboro College after spending time as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
 
In addition to his time at Sam Houston State, Mota made stops at Southeastern Louisiana University, South Carolina University, and Southern Wesleyan University, where he also served as recruiting coordinator, combining for over 10 years of experience.
 
During prior to joining the Greensboro College family, Mota was credited with recruiting six all-conference performers and four all-region selections.
