DANVILLE, Va. – The Greensboro College women's soccer team fell to Averett University Saturday, 2-1.
The Cougars struck for the game's first goal in the 14
th minute when Annalie Jobsis placed her shot in the upper left corner of the goal.
Averett then struck for its final goal of the game in the 43
rd minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
However, the Pride cut the deficit in half after
Devin D'Agostin took a feed from
Caitlyn Cook and beat the Cougars keeper.
Greensboro had several more opportunities late but could not find the equalizer, falling by the one goal margin.
The Pride outshot the Cougars 19-13.
Lauren Greeson had a team-high four shots on goal, while
Anna Rae Porcelli,
Mercedes Fisher,
Briana Huber, and D'Agostin each had one shot on goal.
Brittany Morrison recorded three saves in the loss.
"This was a tough one for us today," Head Coach
Gus Mota said. "We gave up two goals on two mental mistakes and didn't finish our opportunities.
"This late in the year, the girls have to find the will to finish in the attacking third."
