Pride Men Pick Up Road Conference Victory At Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Pride men's soccer team defeated the Scots of Covenant College Friday, 4-2.

The Pride (8-5, 5-2 USA South) gained the lead in the 16th minute when Aameen Goyal scored his first collegiate goal after possessing a through-ball from Mike Tzavlas

The Pride continued putting pressure on the Scots (3-9-2, 3-5 USA South) before Carlos Barragan  extended the Greensboro lead to two goals after beating the Scots keeper on a shot from 25 yards out.

Following Barragan's goal, Jared Heller converted on the Pride's first penalty kick of the year to give Greensboro a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Scots got a goal back in the 64th minute, but Barragan struck once again minutes later to extend the margin back to three goals off an assist from Wyatt Vilaseca.

The Scots would get another goal back but it wasn't enough to beat the Pride.

Jaime Payamps collected his eight win of the season in goal, making two saves.  Obi Collins and Barragan led the Pride with two shots on goal each.

"The boys had a strong showing in the first half and got rewarded with three good goals, while possessing the ball well," Head Coach Tony Falvino said, "The second half was flat. We need to learn from that and improve on the little things."

The Pride are back in action on Saturday when they travel to play the Lions of Piedmont College.  Kickoff is slated at 2 p.m.  For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
