LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Pride men's soccer team defeated the Scots of Covenant College Friday, 4-2.
The Pride (8-5, 5-2 USA South) gained the lead in the 16
th minute when
Aameen Goyal scored his first collegiate goal after possessing a through-ball from
Mike Tzavlas.
The Pride continued putting pressure on the Scots (3-9-2, 3-5 USA South) before
Carlos Barragan extended the Greensboro lead to two goals after beating the Scots keeper on a shot from 25 yards out.
Following Barragan's goal,
Jared Heller converted on the Pride's first penalty kick of the year to give Greensboro a 3-0 halftime lead.
The Scots got a goal back in the 64
th minute, but Barragan struck once again minutes later to extend the margin back to three goals off an assist from
Wyatt Vilaseca.
The Scots would get another goal back but it wasn't enough to beat the Pride.
Jaime Payamps collected his eight win of the season in goal, making two saves.
Obi Collins and Barragan led the Pride with two shots on goal each.
"The boys had a strong showing in the first half and got rewarded with three good goals, while possessing the ball well," Head Coach
Tony Falvino said, "The second half was flat. We need to learn from that and improve on the little things."
