ROCKEY MOUNT, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's soccer team lost to North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday, 2-0.
The Pride (7-3, 3-3 USA South) were unable to take the lead in the first half against the Battling Bishops (6-2-1, 5-1 USA South). Instead it was the Bishops scoring in the 35
th minute and taking the 1-0 lead going into the break.
The Pride had a few opportunities in the second half, taking five shots, but could not get past the Bishops keeper.
The Bishop's then struck once more in the 87
th minute, securing the two-goal victory.
Anna Rae Porcelli led the Pride in shots with three, two of them on goal.
Brittany Morrison (7-3) took the loss in goal, making six saves on the day.
"It was a game of missed opportunities and miscues." Head Coach
Gus Mota said, "We lost our mark on two set pieces and that ended in goals. Offensively we created a lot of dangerous opportunities but couldn't capitalize."
