Pride Stumble on the Road

ROCKEY MOUNT, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's soccer team lost to North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday, 2-0.

The Pride (7-3, 3-3 USA South) were unable to take the lead in the first half against the Battling Bishops (6-2-1, 5-1 USA South).  Instead it was the Bishops scoring in the 35th minute and taking the 1-0 lead going into the break.

The Pride had a few opportunities in the second half, taking five shots, but could not get past the Bishops keeper.

The Bishop's then struck once more in the 87th minute, securing the two-goal victory.

Anna Rae Porcelli led the Pride in shots with three, two of them on goal.  Brittany Morrison (7-3) took the loss in goal, making six saves on the day.

"It was a game of missed opportunities and miscues." Head Coach Gus Mota said, "We lost our mark on two set pieces and that ended in goals.  Offensively we created a lot of dangerous opportunities but couldn't capitalize."

The Pride women will be back in action when they travel to Methodist University on Sunday.  Kickoff is at 1 p.m.  For more information on Greensboro College women's soccer continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
