GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro College women's soccer (4-3-2) defeated Salem (1-6-0) 8-0 on Saturday. Greensboro finished with a 36-0 shot advantage, including 17 shots on goal, while not allowing Salem (NC) a shot.
Abby Lush scored three goals and added two assists for eight points, putting all three of her shots on goal. This marked the first time this season that Lush has achieved two assists in a game.
Abigail Sanzotta finished with a goal and three assists while taking five shots, including three on frame.
Shae Brennan scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and put three of her four shots on goal, setting a season-high with two goals in a game.
Trinity Robinson added a goal on five shots, with two attempts on target.
Greensboro finished with 36 shots, 17 shots on goal and eight goals, while Salem (NC) did not record a shot or shot on goal. Lush had three goals and two assists, and
Abigail Sanzotta added a goal and three assists as Greensboro totaled seven assists on its scoring chances.
Greensboro generated first-half pressure from the start and broke through at 14:58, when Brennan scored off
Abigail Sanzotta's assist for a 1-0 lead. Greensboro widened the gap late in the half as Lush scored three times and Brennan added another goal off a
Natalie Doyel assist. Lush's final goal came at 41:28 from
Makenzie Taylor, sending Greensboro into halftime ahead 5-0.
In the second half, Greensboro extended its lead with three goals, getting
Audrey Edwards' finish from Lush at 69:25 before late goals by
Abigail Sanzotta and Robinson. This was Edwards' first goal of the season. Earlier, Greensboro generated seven shots from 56:05 to 64:54 while the score stayed 5-0, including saved attempts by
Addysen Cole, Robinson and
Addison Self. Lush also assisted Sanzotta's goal, and Sanzotta set up Robinson as Greensboro closed out an 8-0 win.
