GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro College women's soccer (3-3-2, 1-1) lost to Pfeiffer (3-2-2, 2-0) 1-0 on Wednesday night at Pride Field. Greensboro finished with eight shots but put one on goal as Pfeiffer scored the match's only goal in the second half.
Alyssa Lane recorded five saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal for Greensboro.
Alex Dawson put her lone shot on goal, accounting for Greensboro's shot on frame.
Greensboro was nearly even in total shots, finishing with eight to Pfeiffer's nine, but Pfeiffer put six attempts on goal compared with one for Greensboro. Lane recorded five saves in goal, while the foul totals also stood out, with Pfeiffer whistled for 16 fouls to Greensboro's seven and Greensboro receiving two yellow cards to Pfeiffer's one.
Greensboro and Pfeiffer each attempted four shots in the first half, but Pfeiffer put three on goal to Greensboro's one and had the only two corner kicks. Lane made three saves, and Greensboro came through an opening stretch that included two Pfeiffer corners and two shots before the half ended 0-0.
Greensboro generated four second-half shots and two corners but was held scoreless, with
Shae Brennan hitting the left post during a late stretch that included three shots and a corner. Pfeiffer scored the half's only goal through Kenzie Stewart at 48:39, added three corners, and forced Lane into two saves to preserve the 1-0 scoreline.
