ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Greensboro College women's soccer (3-2-2, 1-0) defeated N.C. Wesleyan (2-2-2, 0-1) 2-0 on Saturday at Scalf Field. Greensboro scored both goals in the second half and finished with a 17-7 shot advantage, including 12-2 in shots on goal. The team totaled 12 shots on goal in the game, surpassing its season average of 9.83. Head coach
Mike Johnston also moved into third place all-time in program history with 41 wins.
Isabella Kelly scored twice, recorded the game-winning goal and led Greensboro with six shots, including five on goal. She set a season high with both her two goals and five shots on goal.
Alyssa Lane played all 90 minutes in goal, made two saves and finished with a shutout. This marked Greensboro's fifth shutout of the season.
Trinity Robinson tallied an assist and put her lone shot on goal.
Greensboro put 12 of its 17 shots on goal and limited N.C. Wesleyan to seven shots, two on frame, with Lane making two saves for the shutout. Kelly supplied both goals while finishing with six shots and five shots on goal, and Robinson assisted the opening goal.
Greensboro's most meaningful first-half stretch came midway through the half, when it took six shots and earned a corner kick between 22:09 and 31:54 but could not get past Grace Walls. Earlier, Lane made a save at 11:40, and Greensboro finished the half with eight shots on goal before going into halftime scoreless.
Kelly broke through for Greensboro in the second half, scoring off Robinson's assist at 70:40 and adding another goal at 72:04 to make it 2-0. Earlier, Greensboro had two corner kicks and three
Leah Blackwell shots between 48:03 and 57:55. Lane made a save after the goals, and Greensboro closed out the 2-0 final.
