SALEM, VA. — Greensboro College volleyball (6-1) swept St. Mary's (MD) (2-4) 3-0 on Friday, winning 25-18, 25-17, 25-21. Greensboro hit .282 with 38 kills, 12 service aces and 11 total blocks while holding St. Mary's (MD) to a .154 hitting percentage. Greensboro achieved a season-high total of 11 blocks in the game, surpassing its season average of 5.5.
Greensboro started the opening set with a
Grace Young service ace and a
Skylar Rokov kill, then built a 7-2 lead behind two
Lily Burson aces and a
Madison Bozarth ace. St. Mary's (MD) worked back within 13-9, but
Payton Shiflet's kill returned serve to Greensboro and Burson served four straight points, including an ace, a Rokov-
Enjoli Allen block and kills by Shiflet and Rokov, to push the lead to 18-9. St. Mary's (MD) answered with five straight points, including two Julia Bobrowski aces, to cut the margin to 18-14. Greensboro steadied from there with kills by Shiflet Wright and
Dilynn Norris, reached set point on a Bozarth-Norris block, and closed the set 25-18 on an
Abigail Leo kill.
The Pride built an early cushion in the second set, moving from a 4-3 lead to 8-3 behind a Norris-Allen block, a Leo kill, a
Morgan Mayfield service ace and a
Payton Wright kill. St. Mary's (MD) kept trading points and drew within 12-10, but Greensboro pushed back with kills from Wright and Leo and multiple blocks involving Leo to extend the margin to 19-13. Leo recorded a season-high total of five blocks in the match. After St. Mary's (MD) moved within 19-15, Greensboro went back ahead 20-15 on an opponent error; at 20-16, a Shiflet-Allen block, a Shiflet kill and a Bozarth ace stretched the lead to 23-16 before a St. Mary's (MD) service error set up Norris' kill from Bozarth to finish the set 25-17.
Greensboro opened the third set with five straight points on Young's serve, getting kills from Shiflet and Leo, a Young ace and blocks involving Rokov and Leo to lead 5-0. Rokov also recorded a season-high total of five blocks. St. Mary's (MD) cut the gap to 12-9 with four straight points, and after
Emory Johnson's ace made it 14-9, another St. Mary's (MD) push brought the score to 14-13 before Leo and Shiflet helped Greensboro move the margin back to 17-13. Greensboro led 21-17 on Norris's kill from Bozarth, but St. Mary's (MD) moved within 21-20 before an attack error, Wright's kill and a Norris-Leo block pushed Greensboro to 24-20; after a Vlada Costenco kill, Leo's kill from Bozarth finished the set at 25-21. Allen contributed with a season-high total of four blocks.

Greensboro hit .282 with 38 kills and nine attack errors, while St. Mary's (MD) finished at .154 with 37 kills and 21 attack errors. Greensboro also recorded 12 service aces to St. Mary's (MD)'s four and 11 total blocks to one, pairing advantages in serving and blocking despite St. Mary's (MD) holding a 42-36 edge in digs. Those serving totals were reflected in runs of five and four straight service points, and Greensboro closed the final set with four consecutive points.
