SALEM, VA. — Greensboro College women's soccer (2-1-1) lost to Roanoke 4-0 on Saturday for their first loss of 2026. Greensboro finished with nine shots, including three on goal, while allowing 14 shots and eight on goal.
First Half

Alyssa Lane handled an early Roanoke push, making saves on shots by Caroline Arndt, Riley Dobranski and Madalyn Szoke during a stretch that also included three corner kicks.
- Roanoke took a 1-0 lead at 18:40 when Szoke scored off an assist from Dobranski. Greensboro answered with
Alex Dawson's shot on goal at 19:03, a corner kick at 22:40 and
Isabella Kelly's attempt wide right at 24:54.
- Lane added another save on Brynn Alvarez in the 37th minute, but Ava Walker scored at 44:00 to put Roanoke ahead 2-0 before halftime.
Second Half
- After Dawson sent a shot out at 57:31, Roanoke made it 3-0 at 60:50 on Madalyn Szoke's goal off assists from Lauren Fisher and Caroline Arndt.

Trinity Robinson put a shot on goal at 68:01, but Sadie Mayhew saved it; Roanoke then generated three corner kicks and two shots between 68:34 and 75:30 while the score remained 3-0.
- Greensboro pushed late with an
Abigail Sanzotta shot saved at 78:44 and a corner kick at 80:48 before Roanoke made it 4-0 on Natalia Cage's goal from Hannah Pooley at 81:56.

Leah Blackwell and
Cailey Petrauskas added shots in the 88th minute, Greensboro earned another corner, and Sanzotta had the final attempt at 89:25 before Roanoke finished off the 4-0 result.
Lane played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with four saves.
Abigail Sanzotta shared the team lead with two shots and put one on goal. Dawson also recorded two shots, including one on goal. Blackwell added two shots off the bench.
Greensboro generated a late stretch with four shots and two corner kicks. Greensboro withstood early Roanoke pressure behind three Lane saves in the opening 12 minutes and trailed 2-0 at halftime.
Greensboro was held off the scoreboard in the second half but generated six shots, including saved attempts from Robinson and
Abigail Sanzotta, and earned corner kicks at 80:48 and 87:36 during its late push.
