Volleyball Defeats Guilford 3-0 For Second Time This Season

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro College volleyball (4-1) defeated Guilford College (1-4) 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-15) on Wednesday. Greensboro hit .170 with 33 kills and nine service aces while holding Guilford to a .033 hitting percentage.

Greensboro trailed 2-1 early in set one, but won seven of the next eight rallies after a 2-2 tie to move ahead 9-3. Guilford later closed to 9-7, but Greensboro answered with kills from Dilynn Norris, Payton Wright and Larkin Baxley to restore separation. Greensboro closed the opening set at 25-16.

Greensboro responded after Guilford moved in front 23-22 in set two by taking four of the final five points, with Rokov tying the set at 24-24 and Payton Shiflet putting Greensboro ahead 25-24. Madison Bozarth then served an ace to close the set, giving Greensboro a 26-24 win.

Greensboro closed the third set by winning the final six points after Guilford made it 19-15, with Grace Young serving the last five points. Young had two aces in that closing stretch, and Shiflet added a kill from Emory Johnson to bring Greensboro to set point. Greensboro finished the set at 25-15.

Norris finished with a team-high five total blocks and added five kills while hitting .500. Wright led Greensboro with seven kills on 19 attacks. Bozarth recorded 14 assists, eight digs and one service ace. Johnson added 11 assists and three service aces.
