GREENSBORO, NC — Greensboro College women's soccer (2-0-1) defeated Averett (0-2) 9-0 on Wednesday. Greensboro posted a 47-1 shot advantage, including 25 shots on goal, and held Averett without a shot on goal. Nine different players scored for the Pride in the win.
Addison Self scored the first goal early in half number one.
Claire Friedlander recorded two assists and generated six shots.
Abigail Sanzotta finished with a goal and an assist while putting all four of her shots on goal.
Leah Blackwell led Greensboro with seven shots, including four on goal.
Self opened the scoring at 4:38, and Greensboro added goals from
Isabella Kelly,
Abby Lush,
Maci Link,
Trinity Robinson,
Lila Shortell and
Sophia Hodges to carry a 7-0 lead into halftime. Greensboro kept the pressure in Averett's end with 27 shots and 10 corner kicks in the half, while
Alyssa Lane faced one Averett shot.
Greensboro added two second-half goals, with Friedlander assisting
Shae Brennan at 69:50 for an 8-0 lead and
Abigail Sanzotta at 73:05 to make it 9-0.
